Yorkshire community projects invited to apply for garden funds

Groups are being invited to apply for a share of an £18,000 funding donation to create gardens and other community projects.

Community organisations in south and west Yorkshire can apply to the Esh Charitable Trust, an arm of Esh Construction, which will choose 18 projects to receive up to £1,000 each.

Esh Construction Yorkshire head Chris Walker said: "Projects that show the best potential to have a significant impact on their neighbourhood will be shortlisted."

One previous beneficiary was Bowburn Community Project near Durham, which turned a derelict site into a landscaped garden and football pitch for a youth group.

The closing date for entries is 13 August. See www.eshcharitabletrust.co.uk.
