Yeovil Rec set to register as green

A campaign to register Yeovil Rec as a town green has taken its first step after the local authority accepted the application.

Somerset County Council has accepted the application from Save Yeovil Rec and will now advertise to see if there are any objections.

The Open Spaces Society is providing support to the group and case officer Nicola Hodgson said: "This is a vital first step in the registration process. We'll have to see if there are any objections, and the Open Spaces Society will help Save Yeovil Rec respond to any."

She added: "We are keen to see this land protected for public enjoyment and if the land is registered as a green it will protect it from development."
