Wyevale wins planning for burnt store replacement

Wyevale Garden Centres at Caddington, Bedfordshire, which burnt down in July, has won planning permission for a replacement store on the site.

South Bedfordshire District Council has given Wyevale the go-ahead for a new design which will be set further back from the road and have 125 parking spaces, compared to the previous 84.

The Environment Agency withdrew an objection concerning assessment of the flood risks at the greenbelt site.

A council representative said the permission was subject to Wyevale not selling large quantities of Calor Gas on site and to the Government officer for the East of England not calling the application in by the end of the month under the Greenbelt Directive.
