Simply answer the organisers’ horticultural question for a chance to join the likes of Diarmuid Gavin, Professor David Bellamy, Sir Roddy Llewellyn and Professor Stefan Buczacki at the North West’s premier gardening show.

The four-day event includes the plant marquee, show gardens, plant stalls and a wealth of other exhibits, each following this year’s coastal theme, designed to celebrate the show’s seaside location in the city’s Victoria Park.

The grow-your-own trend will be promoted at the show by the National Society of Allotment and Leisure Gardens who will be on hand to offer advice on fruit and veg growing.

And TV gardener Toby Buckland will be among the many authors visiting the show to promote their wares in the Bloomin’ Good Books Festival.

For your chance to visit the show just answer the following question:

Bellis Perennis is the scientific name for which popular English garden flower?

a)     Daisy

b)     Pansy

c)     Peony

Email your answer to hortweek@haymarket.com.

The deadline for entries is 6 August.

For further show information and to order tickets for the Southport Flower Show, which is open from August 19th to the 22nd, visit www.southportflowershow.co.uk or call 0844 847 1555.
