The UK flower market is worth £2.2 billion but only 10 per cent of flowers purchased each year are grown in the UK, according to the company. Mothers Day is one of the most popular days to purchase in the floristry calendar.
Head wigglet Heather Gorringe said: "By buying locally you are helping the local wildlife and the environment from the birds to the bees. You are also cutting down on the environmental cost of transporting exotic imports.
"There are also lot’s of benefits to the consumer and the economy. If you buy local, you support local growers, local jobs and you pay less, because you are always buying in season!"
