The Westonbirt Project aims to protect the tree collection but also conserve and share the heritage of the 600-acre Grade I-listed landscape.
The plan is to develop Westonbirt as a place to learn about trees and their importance in the future, in terms of climate change.
Westonbirt Arboretum has already received £177,800 development funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to work up plans for its £7.5m project, that will hopefully receive £2.8m HLF funding.
Central to the plans is the creation of a treetop viewpoint — the Westonbirt Heritage Vantage Point.
An open design competition to find ideas for the treetop attraction closed on 28 September.
On Saturday (10 October), the Arboretum will open an exhibition examining the future plans of the site.
