Webbs Garden Centre plans for a new planteria in Ryton

Expansion plans are under way at Webbs Garden Centre in Ryton. The company signed a deal with Garden Organic to take on the charity's retail, conference and catering operations at the Ryton site in November last year.

Webbs chief executive Boyd Douglas-Davies said: "The big change will be when the planteria comes in. We have a planning application in to turn an outdoor area into a retail space."

He added: "It is not all organic. We are supporting local sustainable produce as well. The food business has done very well so we are going to add to it with new products."
