Waitrose plans third development tie-up with Notcutts

Waitrose has submitted plans to build a store in Edwalton, next to Notcutts' Wheatcrofts Garden Centre in Nottinghamshire.

Plans submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council include spending £5 million on improving the roads around the site.

Waitrose said that the size of the new store – which would create 200 new jobs – would be about 3,000sqm.

Also in the application, submitted by Waitrose and developer Cranford Developments, are plans for four new small retail units and 225 car parking spaces.

Waitrose development director Nigel Keen said: "We really hope the council backs this application and we look forward to bringing forward the new store as quickly as we can with a scheduled opening date, subject to securing planning permission, next year."

Waitrose also has plans for stores at Notcutts locations in Bagshot and Woodbridge.
