Rose breeders, growers and retailers from around the world will descend on the Canadian city of Vancouver for the World Rose Convention, which will take place on 18-24 June next year.

Speakers will focus on the theme "Roses in the Landscape" and will emphasise the need for environmentally friendly gardening techniques. Peter Beales will talk about classic roses in the garden landscape. Workshops and tours of gardens across British Columbia will also take place.

A joint production between the World Federation of Rose Societies, the Canadian Rose Society and the American Rose Society, it will be held at the Westin Bayshore Hotel.

World Federation of Rose Societies president Gerald Meylan said: "We have speakers coming from New Zealand, Norway, Russia, South Africa and China."
