Chief executive Heng-Hsuan Lee said the factory will open in March 2011 and will bring stable, quality plants to the UK. The factory will produce 30,000 Phalaenopsis each day.
V-Flora is to produce 1.5 million orchids under the Glorchid banner in 2011 and now supplies Asda and Tesco, with Homebase and B&Q both "interested".
Lee said: "People are very interested in UK-grown stock. Our prices are similar to imported orchids because the market is competitive but ours are better because they grow here so are fresher and have more flowers."
