The glasshouses were constructed for Jamaica's Ministry of Agriculture & Fisheries as part of an EU-funded project to demonstrate and develop production techniques for local growers.
CGC designed, manufactured and supervised the construction of the polycarbonate, wide-span structures. It also installed the automatic controls, irrigation and screen systems in the glasshouses - two of which were built on the island's Bodles Research Station.
Project manager Victor Lambert said: "The design criteria had to take into account the potential for extreme weather. The structures built by CGC more than 20 years ago at Bodles Research Station had withstood five major hurricanes over the years."
