Two years of bad weather sees Garden King Bradley make plans to close

Garden King Bradley in Staffordshire is closing its doors for the final time on March 30 with 18 staff members losing their jobs.

Design and marketing manager Ben Smith said: "It’s a great shame because the staff are brilliant and work so hard. We’ve tried over the last two and a half years to get the centre productive, but it’s too big of a hill to climb.

He added: "It needed too much investment given its location in the middle of nowhere."

Smith also blamed two years of bad weather which hit after Garden King bought the centre. He said: "We had to take the decision to close in order to save our other garden centre."

Garden King has no plans for the site yet and is exploring its options.

"We don’t think the site is viable for a garden centre for anybody, unless they can invest really heavily," said Smith.
