Turks switch export markets

Fruit exports to the UK from Turkey decreased by 44 per cent between 2005 and 2009, as the country reoriented its exports towards eastern Europe and the Middle East.

But overall, horticultural production in Turkey continues to expand, with apple growing - mainly Golden Delicious - increasing 30 per cent between 2004 and 2009, and cherries by 54 per cent.
