TrustMark website records landscaper traffic increase

Hits on the Government-backed TrustMark website for landscapers have shot up this April compared to the same period last year.

The site attracted 18,504 searches for landscape gardeners between 1 and 28 April 2014, compared to 10,371 in April 2013 (up 78 per cent) while searches for fence installers rocketed by 162 per cent.

TrustMark relaunched at the start of last month with a bigger marketing budget and has been working to boost its profile. Search numbers were also up in April compared to March. The only exception is for tree surgeons, who saw a drop last month compared to April 2013. But post-storm searches in March 2014 saw a 161 per cent rise on searches for tree surgeons in March 2013.

TrustMark head of PR and marketing Stuart Carter said: "We continue to see high figures of consumers searching for qualified and reputable tradesman to do their work rather than looking on 'find a trader' websites that carry out little or no checks."

This April, customers searched more than 600,000 times in total, an increase of 39 per cent on April last year.
