Fruit Producers turned over £549m 2020 and £616m, revised now to £597m, in 2021. This year’s top 25 total £690m, up by around 16%.
While food service and eating out fell in 2020-21, more fresh fruit was bought from retailers, resulting in slightly patchy results from growers nationwide.
Defra’s revised figures for 2020 show the value of output from fruit rose by £118m (16.5%) to £836m from the previous year, mainly due to a rise in average prices.
