Top 70 landscape firms see combined sales hit £1.3bn

This year’s exclusive Horticulture Week analysis of the top players in the UK landscape contracting and maintenance market follows a strong year for the sector that has seen the majority of its leading players report sales growth in their core markets.

Now expanded to cover the top 70 largest contractor businesses in the UK, the latest Horticulture Week analysis reveals a combined turnover of £1.3bn for all 70 businesses in our ranking.

The top 20 contractor businesses in our ranking take up the lion’s share of the total turnover of the top 70 landscape contractors in the UK — reflecting the dominance in the market of the very top players. Together the top 20 landscape contractors boast a combined turnover of £961.8m.

Again reflecting the wide disparity in turnover of those at the top and bottom of our top 70 ranking, just 13 businesses are large enough to move out of the standard small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) bracket, which typically includes businesses with a turnover of up to £25m.
