Garden designer Trevor Tooth has urged members of his profession to keep lines of communication open with builders and clients throughout the construction process.
The open day for landscapers at Wyevale East Nurseries in Swanley, Kent, gave landscapers the chance to discuss industry topics.
Tooth urged designers to develop a better understanding of garden construction because that was where any communication breakdown between the designer, builder and client would occur.
He claimed that the hardest part of any job was meeting the client’s expectations and that a clear understanding of the brief could help avoid potential obstacles.
Fellow designer Andrew Fisher Tomlin told delegates that a desire to reconnect with nature and a bold use of colour would soon be dictating garden design trends.
He said: “Designers like Tom Stuart Smith are leading us out of a decade of monochromatic schemes into designs with stronger colour combinations.”
