As landscape contracts manager Hawtin is tasked with finding new market opportunities and income streams while managing existing contracts for the Stirling-headquartered forestry, landscaping and timber business.
£121m-turnover Tilhill is top ranked in the Horticulture Week Top 50 UK Landscape and Maintenance Contractors and has been growing its landscaping arm since a relaunch in 2016.
Hawtin has been working in landscaping since the 1980s and moves to Tilhill from CPS Water Features, where he was head of design. Previously he was associate producer on Spungold TV’s Love Your Garden, which aired on ITV, and manager at both Randle Siddeley and Landform Consultants. He also previously ran his own garden design business and spent 12 years as a lecturer at Hadlow College in Tonbridge, Kent.
He said: "What I hope to bring to Tilhill is a wealth of experience across the landscape field, an in-house design resource and the ability to produce award winning landscapes."
Earlier this year he was awarded Chartership of the Landscape Institute. During the past 15 years Brian has delivered projects in the Royal Parks, supervised the planting of the Bombay Sapphire Distillery Greenhouse designed by Thomas Heatherwick, built and maintained a number of BALI Award-winning projects and managed RHS Show Gardens at Chelsea and Hampton Court winning several medals including ‘Gold’ and ‘Best In’ category awards.
Brian said: "The ultra-high net worth industry is based on confidentiality and as such I can only wish that I could detail some of the fascinating private projects I have been involved with. Suffice to say that I have been fortunate enough to work in some incredible places for some amazing clients."
Tilhill Forestry, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BSW Timber Group, was established 70 years ago. It is a national company operating from a network of offices throughout the UK.
