Thieves steal £12,000 worth of Christmas trees from Surrey garden centre

Vineries Garden Centre in Effingham, Surrey has had 400 Christmas trees stolen, after thieves cut through wire fencing surrounding the store.

A police spokesman said: "They then loaded the stock, valued at about £12,000, onto a seven-tonne flatbed Iveco lorry found on the premises and made their escape along Effingham Common Road."

Surrey Police are appealing for information. The centre has since restocked.
