Thames Gateway chief leaves job

Judith Armitt has left her role as chief executive of the £9bn Thames Gateway regeneration project. Communities & Local Government would not confirm or deny whether she resigned or was let go.

The former chief executive of Medway Council was appointed to lead the project in November last year. Her departure comes just two weeks after prime minister Gordon Brown launched the Thames Gateway Plan.

Joe Montgomery will, as director general for regions and communities, take direct responsibility for the Thames Gateway Executive.
