Tests show blue LEDs can kill food pathogens

Blue LEDs can be used to kill food pathogens and they do so most effectively in cool temperatures and acidic conditions, according to researchers at the National University of Singapore (NUS) who have said the findings open up novel possibilities of using blue LEDs as a chemical-free food preservation method.
