Telephone marketing helps garden centres promote sales

The use of on-hold telephone marketing messages is on the rise in garden centres, according to PH Media Group, which is implementing Christmas sales messages for waiting or transferred callers.

Over the past six months, PH has started working with Bents, Barton Grange and Summerseat Garden Centre based in Lancashire. In September, the landscape company Ground Control, in Essex, also took on PH's services. PH now covers 30 UK garden centres.

PH is encouraging garden centres to use the marketing to support sales of seasonal products and plants at Christmas, as well as holiday opening hours or seasonal menus in on-site restaurants.

PH sales director Mark Williamson said: "Creating an audio promotional campaign for your garden centre is equally as important as a visual campaign. Many retailers now make announcements within the store to cross-sell different areas of the business, so why not do the same to customers who make telephone enquiries?"
