Surge in mower deaths leads to increased demand for demonstrations of Etesia's Attila A180 machines

A spate of fatal mowing accidents has led to a jump in demand for demonstrations of the Attila A180 all-terrain ride-on mowers, according to manufacturer Etesia.

The company has had as much interest in demonstrations in the past three months as it has had in the previous three years.

Incidents are often caused by the use of standard ride-ons for steep banks but can be avoided with specialist machinery.

Etesia UK general manager Les Malin said: "It is tragic that fatal accidents of this kind can occur in an age when multi-purpose-built bank mowers are so readily available. A very large number of commercial-end users are realising that using the wrong machine for the job is a costly exercise, especially in cases where charges of corporate manslaughter could be raised against the bosses."

The Attila A180 has proved popular with concerned employers as it has a self-levelling system that keeps the central driving unit upright. It allows the operator to work safely on slopes up to 27 degrees.
