Entrants must design a show garden that can be built within a budget of £8,000. The winning design will then be built and displayed at this year's show from 18 to 24 August.
UK students undertaking recognised courses in garden design, horticulture, landscaping or landscape architecture are eligible to enter the competition in groups or as individuals. Entries are also accepted from those who qualified in the last academic year.
Southport Flower Show chief executive David Jackson said: "The competition gives students the opportunity to experience a real-world environment and gain the confidence to pursue a career in garden design.
"The flower show is excited to have the support of the SGD in recognition of the growing importance of this national competition."
- The closing date for entries is 9 May. For further details, see www.southportflowershow.co.uk
