Sir Terry Farrell says 'vision' is more important than land ownership

Land ownership and planning powers are less important in regeneration than creating a 'vision' for an area, according to design champion Sir Terry Farrell.

Sir Terry Farrell has now launched his vision for the Thames Gateway and said the crucial part of re-designing an area was having a strong framework and masterplan.

"The Thames Gateway is the most ambitious and complex regeneration project," said Sir Terry Farrell.

"I am a passionate believer in the future of design being about masterplanning, frameworks and the landscape of all aspects of our lives."

The leading architect unveiled his Thames Gateway Parklands Vision last week and said the £30 million Government cash allocated for the region would go a long way.

"You don't need to own the land or have all the planning powers," added Sir Terry.

"I think the vision, design and overall agreement of where we are going is the key intellectual property."
