Simpsons Garden Centre Garden Retail Awards nomination gets mention in Parliament

MSP Mary Scanlon has congratulated Simpsons Garden Centre in Inverness on being shortlisted for the finals of the 2011 Garden Retail Awards in a speech to the Scottish Parliament.

Scanlon said she considered the awards among the gardening industry's most prestigious. Simpsons, which opened in 2001, is the largest independent garden centre in the Highlands and employs 75 staff.

It was nominated in the Best Catering Facilities, Best Customer Service and Retail Outlet of the Year categories. Managing director Andrew Simpson said: "We are delighted to be flying the flag for Scotland."

The winners of the awards will be announced at a ceremony on 31 October at the Grosvenor House Hotel on London's Park Lane.
