Sheltered housing gets design overhaul

A new sheltered housing scheme for 12 special-needs tenants who were living in outdated accommodation in Middlesex has been created by landscape architecture practice Watkins Dally and architecture firm Duggan Morris.

The contemporary building sits in landscaped external spaces and lawns designed by Watkins Dally.

A series of full-height windows along the length of the corridors face into the landscape.

The scheme is located within an established site in Hillingdon occupied by a Grade II-listed Arts and Crafts building by Edward Prior.

The building maintains an appropriate appearance sensitive to this existing setting. Communal lawns, planted borders, seating and outdoor "rooms" create zones of activity and privacy.
