Seven council parks departments shortlisted for APSE Service Awards

Parks and horticultural teams at seven local authorities have reached the shortlist for the Association of Public Sector Excellence (APSE) Service Awards.

Bedford Borough Council, Birmingham City Council, Douglas Borough Council, Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council, Nottingham City Council, Oxford City Council and Stockton on Tees Borough Council have all reached the finals for the Best Service Team Parks, Grounds and Horticultural award.

The awards have been designed to recognise excellence across public sector departments.

APSE National Chair councillor John Kerr Brown said: "Local council frontline services are there day in and day out for their local communities.

"These awards recognise those frontline services are leading the way in UK public services, and deserve national recognition for their contribution to local neighbourhoods."

The award winners will be announced at a charity dinner at the rise of the APSE annual seminar in Liverpool on Thursday 5 September 2013.
