Sense of belonging highlighted by BALI market research

Market research for BALI suggests people join it for a sense of belonging rather than for a business edge.

Hall Associates is quizzing current and lapsed members to gain a picture of industry views. The company's senior partner John Hall said 70 per cent value being part of the BALI family - a higher percentage than for other professional groups.

But many felt the BALI profile needed to be higher. BALI chief operations officer Wayne Grills said the group is taking stands at events such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Show for this reason and added that it had improved web traffic in May.

He said the biggest worries are the economy and the knock-on effect of competition from the "£40-a-day man with a wheelbarrow".
