Scheme passed to bring new life to south Coast Town

Hastings Borough Council approves masterplan for St Leonards town centre

Hastings Borough Council has approved a £40m regeneration framework for central St Leonards, drawn up by design consultancy Broadway Malyan. The multi-disciplinary practice has worked with the council and residents to produce a strategic development and funding plan for one of the South East’s most deprived boroughs. The strategy is intended to green the town and create a sustainable community, while delivering long-term economic and social benefits to the area. The Hastings Trust and the South East England Development Agency were also involved in its creation. It is expected that different aspects of the plan such as the enhancement of the town’s existing open spaces will be individually put to tender as the project progresses.
