Fairhurst is quality manager at Liverpool-based bedding grower Porters Horticultural and also sits on the NFU horticulture board.
She said she now plans to "continue to strengthen the association's importance for growers, to increase the membership and build on our work with the NFU and other organisations".
She added: "I am delighted to have been elected as the new BPOA chairman. I'm really looking forward to the next two years and the challenges that lie ahead.
"I aim to build on the good work already achieved by the previous chairmen and the association's committees, which do such fantastic work for growers. I have already spoken to a number of BPOA members who have given me their ideas and thoughts for the association, and I can see a number of these recommendations being put into place in the near future."
