Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to re-open Marianne North Gallery

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is re-opening its gallery featuring botanic and landscape art.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew's Marianne North Gallery will re-open on Sunday 11 October as part of the gardens' 250th anniversary year.

The gallery and its 833 paintings by Victorian botanical artist Marianne North are being renovated in a two-year conservation project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).

Kew director Stephen Hopper said: "The Marianne North Gallery is one of the unique treasures at Kew and I am delighted that this stunning building and its rich collection are being renovated, refreshed and conserved as a highlight in our 250th anniversary year. With the two-year restoration project well underway, the legacy of this remarkable woman is being preserved as she would have remembered it, for future generations to enjoy."
