The company has supplied the college’s Elmwood Campus with grass seed to develop research and trial areas at the Elmwood Golf Course, based near Stratheden, Fife.

Elmwood is known internationally for education in greenkeeping and golf-related courses.

The continuous trials will form part of the education of more than 60 students from the Elmwood Campus and golf course staff are also involved.

Rigby Taylor technical advisor in north east Scotland  Andy Menmuir,  said: "We are delighted to be working with Elmwood and look forward to some very interesting results."

Students are responsible for seeding, establishing and growing grass in three-metre square trial plots.

Plots will also be used to mix different grass varieties with the Higher National Level students being involved in research and development. This will enrich their learning and deepen their understanding of sports turf.

Greg Kilgour, Elmwood deputy manager of education, research and environmental matters, said the college was very grateful to Rigby Taylor for its support and everybody looked forward to seeing the results.
