RHS Wisley goes for the quiet life with battery-powered Pellenc products

RHS Wisley has purchased a range of environmentally-friendly battery-powered fumeless Pellenc equipment.

The RHS’s flagship garden bought a fleet of Helion hedgecutters and Arion blowers, along with the Solerion solar panel charging station from the French company to help maintain the 97ha gardens in Surrey.

Wisley machinery maintenance engineer Peter Anderson is a repeat customer of the Pellenc range through his local dealer Surrey Power.

He said: "They are extremely lightweight with low noise and vibration levels.

"When the estates team first saw Pellenc, some staff members were sceptical as they felt that battery-powered equipment wouldn’t be able to do as a good of a job as the petrol-powered equipment, but as soon as they started to use it, they were so impressed with the power."

Anderson said reducing emissions and noise levels was also a factor in his decision, particularly since Wisley attracts a large number of student volunteers.

The machines are able to do the job they do because they are fitted with lithium-ion ultra-high performance batteries.

Etesia UK has the exclusive distribution rights to Pellenc in the UK.
