Raspberry beetle monitor offers control

The James Hutton Institute has developed a monitoring trap for raspberry beetle (Byturus tomentosus).

"It tells you where the hotspots are and by controlling those you get a year-on-year reduction," said East Malling Research team leader Professor Gerry Cross.

"However, the beetles can survive from year to year on hawthorn," he added.
