Protesters win right to planning hearing over Botanic garden expansion plan

Protesters against Royal Botanic Garden, Edinbugh's plans for an extension have won the right to a public hearing.

The plan would see a new vehicle shed and boiler unit built and old glasshouses replaced.

Inverleith councillor Iain Whyte said: "There is a view among local residents’ groups that the process to date has not made any proper attempt to accommodate real and significant concerns about the impact of the scheme."

The hearing is to be heard in mid August.
