Professionals wanted for Huddersfield park design

Landscape architects are sought to developed plans for a multi-million-pound redevelopment of a Huddersfield park.

A search is on to find landscape architects to produce a detailed design for a £5m revamp for Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park. Kirklees Metropolitan Council has made it through to the second stage in its bid for Heritage Lottery Fund cash. It is now tendering for someone to help prepare a detailed plan in the second stage of its bid before the September deadline. Included in the plans will be a new ornamental lake, a revamped Japanese-style bandstand, restoration of the Italian garden fountain, a new-look war memorial and improved paths and lighting. Council senior procurement officer Roger Matthews said: “We are looking at new features, as well as restoring many of the old ones.” Kirklees is also seeking structural engineering, project management and consultancy services.
