Pot-recycling scheme takes off at Wyevale centres

Wyevale's pot-recycling has been rolled out to all of its 123 garden centre outlets.

The company announced in March it would recycle pots as part of its Plan Apple sustainability programme. Horticulture category manager Tim Clapp, who has been managing the scheme, said: "We have completed the roll-out of pot recycling to our stores and the response has been good."

"The pots are being returned to a supplier on the empty-return deliveries, who then bales them and returns them to the pot manufacturer, which recycles them and re-uses the plastic. We do not receive any money for the plastic."

Other centres have seen prices drop for recycled plastic but are continuing the service.
