Play areas planned in Maidstone

Play areas for youths and young children are planned at a Maidstone recreation ground following the award of a lottery grant.

The BIG Lottery Fund has awarded £274,000 to Maidstone Borough Council to upgrade four areas.

Parkwood Recreation Ground is set to receive £135,000 of the cash, which will go towards new playground equipment.

A multi-use games area will be installed for football, basketball and netball, along with youth equipment such as a teen shelter.

Floodlighting will also be provided to allow young people to use the facilities during winter.

A public consultation on the plans is underway and closes on 5 September.
