Plants sales guide for nursery staff published

A guide to selling plants for nursery sales staff and retail plant teams has been produced by the HTA to improve selling of garden plants through independent garden retailers.

Written by HTA Business Improvement Consultant Andy Campbell in association with the HTA Retail Suppliers Group, the Plant Selling Guide aims to improve understanding of the key drivers of profitability within plant retailing and identifies the wide range of discussion topics to explore in negotiations between both parties.

Meanwhile, the HTA-run BOPP certification scheme for ornamental horticulture has released a fifth version of the Ornamental Horticulture Packhouse Standard.

The new standard includes criteria for senior management commitment, setting quality objectives, managing suppliers, labelling and packaging, hygiene, transport, sustainability and ethics. New inspections are more difficult to pass.

The annual BOPP meeting is at Stoneleigh on 25 September.
