The site will be the second centre opened under Planters’ Garden King brand.

Garden King in Swadlincote, Derbyshire have had record sales during July, August and September with an increase of 20 per cent. In addition, the company are celebrating a record year with total sales up by eight per cent year on year.

Garden King’s manager Darren Sanders has been at Newhall for seven years and now oversees both centres as area manager for the brand.

He said the stores are doing well and the "stack ‘em high, sell ‘em cheap" concept is working. The company believes supplier clearance deals and customers hungry for a bargain have really helped contribute to their success.

Garden King have started renovation work at the Bradley site, with a larger car park,
relocation of entrance and major structural work to begin in the next few months.

Planters Garden Centre began in 1995. The company now has 4 garden centres, Planters (Freasley), Planters at Bretby, Garden King (Newhall) and Garden King (Bradley).

In addition to the centres Planters operates seedsbypost.co.uk and gardenking.co.uk.
