Plans for Wandle Valley Regional Park move forward

Plans for an 8,000-acre park that will stretch across South London from the Thames to the North Downs have moved closer after a council agreed to the proposals.

Councillors in the London Borough of Sutton have agreed to support plans for the Wandle Valley Regional Park.

The park is expected to link open spaces across the boroughs of Merton, Sutton, Croydon and Wandsworth.

Environmental charity Groundwork is now to draft more detailed proposals after being awarded funding from the council.

Residents are to be consulted on how Wandle Valley Regional Park should be managed and funded.
