Pershore College has won £5.8m from the Skills Funding Agency for a new glass building that will include a collections house.
Wychavon District Council granted planning permission last month and work will start immediately on site.
The new glass building will house a science and technology centre, a collections house, teaching rooms and project spaces and research and development facilities.
The building will replace old and now unused facilities and will also provide a reception area for the college and a viewing gallery over the collections house below.
Acting principal Tamsin Jones said: "This is amazing news for the college, our students and our local community.
"This stunning new development will ensure we remain at the forefront of the horticulture industry and allow us to develop a centre of excellence in food production. It will allow our students to learn using leading edge facilities, in collaboration with employers and partners, using the latest technology, providing them with a competitive advantage as they both start and then journey throughout their career.
"The state-of-the-art facilities will benefit not only our students but local employers and the wider community. They will allow us to meet the skills shortages in horticulture and food production identified as a key priority for economic growth in our region. In addition they will give us the research facilities needed to support these industries into the future.
"I would like to reiterate my thanks to all our local partners who have supported this scheme from the beginning. We really couldn’t have achieved this outstanding result without their commitment and support."
The new developments will be complete by September 2015.
