Michael Morris is the first photographer dedicated solely to the study of orchids. "It is very important for me to be accepted in the orchid world," he said.
Morris first discovered orchids in the 1970s when working in the Navy, and rediscovered his passion while recovering from a series of operations between 2002 and 2007. His exhibition has already attracted the attention of leading orchidologist Dr Kevin Davies.
"He is particularly interested in the botany side of the orchid and what the camera can pick up," explained Morris.
Davies and other orchid experts are expected to attend the display next week when it coincides with an international orchid exhibition, also at the National Botanic Garden of Wales, on 5-6 September.
His company Passion 4 Orchids supports the charity Orchid and will be donating five per cent of the profits made at the exhibition to the charity.
Morris' current exhibition will run until 14 September. Visit www.passion4orchids.co.uk.
