Park returns to good condition after Isle of Wight Festival

Hertfordshire-based landscape contractor and grounds maintenance firm John O'Conner has helped repair damage to Seaclose Park following the Isle of Wight Festival in June.

Heavy downpours and the wellies of 60,000 revellers at the summer event rendered the ground unusable. As a result, festival organiser Solo and Isle of Wight Council employed John O'Conner to treat existing turf and plant grass seeds to bring the site back into good condition.

Council deputy director for economy and environment John Metcalfe said drainage works undertaken several years ago prevented more severe damage.

"Although the ground looked in a bad way, it was only the surface that was damaged," he added.
