Packaging extends WOW Micro Leaf brand shelf life by slowing growth

West Sussex-based grower VHB has launched new packaging that it says extends the shelf life of its WOW Micro Leaf brand.

The new packaging is the first of its kind to be used in the UK and it works by temporarily slowing down the growth of the micro leaves. This helps the product - designed for use by chefs and the food service industry - to stay fresh.

The product, which includes a range of living herb and salad leaves harvested at seed or first true leaf stage, also now comes in new, pull-out boxes that can be easily stacked in the fridge.

The low-sided punnet is designed to make the leaves, which are grown all year round in VHB's nursery located in West Sussex, easy to snip and use.

Two-Michelin-star chef Daniel Clifford, of Midsummer House in Cambridge, paid a visit to VHB's nursery in West Sussex on what the grower called "WOW Wednesday" (24 April) to mark the launch of the packaging.
