Ornamentals Grower of the Year - Winner Bransford Webbs Plant Company

Bransford Webbs Plant Company took the 2016 award for Ornamentals Grower of the Year after judges awarded the grower their highest score out of all this year's winners of ornamental categories from which the overall award is chosen.

The business has focused hard in recent years on making its production and despatch processes as efficient as possible, its internal communication as effective as possible and its product specification, range and volumes as appropriate as possible.

The upshot has been big improvements in the rate that plants are packed and picked, a fall in negative feedback from customers of any kind to less than 1.5 per cent for all deliveries and a reduction in waste to below 10 per cent of turnover.

Investment has been made in water recycling and solar energy, and in 2015 a glasshouse was built to enable Bransford to expand its key hebe offering throughout the season.

This development in the ranges offered has been supported by a trials unit investigating new groups of plants to meet demand for mid- to late-summer colour and impulse buys.
