Online garden machinery retailer auctions ride-on mower to raise cash for homeless charity Shelter

Online garden machinery store Mowdirect is joining forces with homelessness charity Shelter to raise funds at Christmas.

Mowdirect based at Morningthorpe in south Norfolk is organising the online auction for a ride-on lawnmower with all the proceeds going to the charity.

The ride-on, one of the company’s MD Minis which usually sells for £999, will go to the highest bid received by Wednesday 19 December.

Anyone can take part by going to Mowdirect’s Facebook page and making a bid and the company will despatch the kit before Christmas.

General manager Stuart Drake said: "The idea arose after a discussion about our own Christmases and we couldn’t envisage having nowhere to call our own at this time of the year and so the idea began.
