One in three don't use parks

Sports England reopt reveals a lack of park use

One in three people never visit a park according to a survey carried out across England. More than 3,000 adults were asked what they thought about the parks in their community and beyond and how they felt that they could be improved. Interpreting these results nationally, Sport England, which carried out the survey, stated that just under two thirds of the population would have visited a park in the previous 12 months but more than a third never visited a park at all. Of those actually surveyed, 32 per cent thought that the condition of parks had improved in the past three years, while 50 per cent thought that it had stayed the same and 11 per cent said they noticed a decline. On safety, 55 per cent of users felt their park was safe but among those who did not use parks, lack of safety was cited as a reason by eight per cent, rising to 13 per cent in more vulnerable groups.
