A celebration of the life of Oliver Menhinick MBE will be held at the Church of St Cyriac's in Lacock, Wiltshire on 10 April at 2pm.
The senior tutor emeritus of the Horticultural Correspondence College died aged 76 in a road traffic accident on 22 March.
He studied at Writtle College from 1954-56 and was later head of horticulture at Lackham College for 35 years and then ran the Horticultural Correspondence College for many years.
Former Writtle College colleague Peter Seabrook said: "He was a real gent of the old school and would have helped thousands of students through horticulture courses."
He was a dearly loved husband of Mary; created a loving family with Juliet and James, a doting and wonderful grandad to Tashi, Samuel, Callum, Erica and Lydia.
Family flowers only, donations split evenly between The Prisoner's Education Trust and the Friends of Lacock Church c/o F.W. Jones & Son, 30 Market Place, Chippenham, SN15 3HP.
The family ask that those attending the memorial dress brightly to celebrate Oliver's life.
